Custom Home Remodel in Moraga

This 1960 ranch-style home in Moraga had never been remodeled, presenting both opportunity and complexity. The original layout divided the main living area into four enclosed rooms, limiting light and flow. To create a more functional great room, all interior walls were removed, requiring structural re-framing, new footings, and foundation underpinning to support concealed load beams. The kitchen was relocated from the front of the home to the rear, improving connection to the yard and allowing for new windows, skylights, and a doorway that significantly increased natural light. Pre-finished hardwood flooring was installed in the great room and hallway, while existing oak floors in the bedrooms were refinished to create continuity throughout the home. Bathrooms were selectively updated to improve usability, including a new walk-in shower and refreshed tile finishes.
