Arlington home remodel
This home was built in 1926 located in Thousand Oaks, Berkeley. No previous work had been done, so lots of upgrades were needed to satisfy our client’s needs. This job involved 2 remodeled bathrooms, one bathroom addition, and a kitchen remodel. All the plumbing in the home to the street was replaced. All of the electrical was upgraded from knob and tube. The entryway had dark wood paneling from the floor to the ceiling and was removed to lighten up the space. The downstairs kitchen was very tiny: the walls separating the kitchen, office, dining room, and exterior patio were re-framed to make one large kitchen. Structural framing was needed to carry the load to the second and third floor above; the structural beam was wrapped in a handmade walnut beam. The walnut beam was finished with an ADZ detail done with an ADZ tool. The kitchen cabinets are quarter sawn white oak, custom made by a local cabinet builder in Berkeley.
